Should I switch high schools senior year?

I live about an hour away from my school and have been fine with this and riding the bus the past two years, but this year my district’s transportation system changed and now my commute has changed to 2 hours. My school is extremely competitive (top 20) and it’s been the worst decision of my life to honestly go there like I can feel my stress and anxiety piling up and my grades aren’t looking too good either. Transferring to my zoned school which is about 10 minutes away would definitely lessen the academic stress and get me more sleep lol. But I’m unsure of how this would look to college admissions counselors (I still live in the same place)? Since I’m a pretty shy person I’m also worried about my social life senior year.

Any advice? Thanks!

if your allowed to switch and do your guidance counselor can simply write that a switch was made do the change in transportation routes doubling the length of the commute

Oh and also worried because I might not get good teacher recommendations or counselor recommendations from this new school. Could I get a recommendation from my previous counselor? This new school is also easier so would the boost in GPA help me?

A two hour commute is a very good reason to switch high schools.

Getting enough sleep is a legitimate reason also but you don’t have to mention this in your application.

I doubt that the switch in high schools will make much if any difference in your applications to universities.

Have you talked to the bus people about transportation?
