Should I switch my major?

I’m a second-year undergraduate student studying Business Economics at UCLA.

My cumulative GPA is a 3.5, but my major GPA is a 2.8. I will most likely get a C+ in Econ 41 this quarter, and still have to take Econ 11, 101, 102, 103 + upper divs.

My goal is to hit a 3.7-3.8 GPA by next winter quarter (so basically I have winter quarter, spring, and next fall) for job recruiting. However, my ultimate goal is to go to an ivy league graduate school, which states online that their applicants average a ~3.7 cumulative.

Does anyone know if they will look at major GPA and if so, how UCLA calculates it? I heard they omit pre-major courses from major GPA when you graduate. Should I switch my major to something else while I still can?

Econ 41 is a easy class. If you could only get C+, you have not chance to get 3.7 in the future.
