Should I switch to Fall 2012? or keep Summer 2012?

Hi guys,
so i just got accepted to FSU!!! And originally I applied to Summer 2012. Now I just found out that I can switch and apply to Fall 2012.... but just wondering... how will that affect me and my admissions decision?
I know that i have the option of switching to fall but what are the chances of getting fall?
and also is it worth starting in the fall or starting in the summer

i know the pros for starting in the summer is that
- you get to know the school better before the big rush of fall semester
- you get a few credits out of the way

but the con for me is that it classes start on my birthday (july 2nd)
and since im from up north i get out of school later than all you southernes (june 22 - i think)
so my break between hs and college is sooo short plus ill be rushing to get ready for college so there wouldnt be much of a break for me...

anyways...
please help me figure out if i should start summer or fall
and the pros and cons to both
thanks!

my birthday is july first. :p

why did you orginally apply for summer 12?

i only applied summer because im out of state and being an out of stater already slimmed down my chances so i needed to get as much of an advantage as possible
plus i convinced by self that id have an easier time settling in and that it would be better to get a few credits out of the way.

start in the summer but only take 12 credit hours.

haha okay.
just found out that if i asked to switch to fall i wouldnt find out until may which would be too late for me to make vacation plans.
but i guess i can just deal with the fact that I get to party earlier! haha
jossie did you get in?

yeah - i’m going to be a freshman

i dont think theres many parties in summer. i think it’s more to get to familiarize yourself with the university.

goddamit. ugh.
that was the only actual incentive i had of going early…
jk… but not really

If you’re list all of the cons of starting in the summer session, but struggling to list the pros, wouldn’t it make sense for you to try and switch to Fall?

You won’t find out till May, no, but how is that really too late to make any summer plans? You said yourself you don’t get out of school until late June, so how would finding out whether you have to start in the summer or fall in May really make it too difficult to plan anything for summer?

As for parties during the summer, it’s college. There’s a thousand parties going on every night.

The university will only allow you to take 6 credits on the summer.

My son is in the same situation. He applied for summer and a little over a month ago, he changed his mind and wanted to apply for fall. I called admissions and asked them if he could change his application. The girl I spoke to said that if we changed application to fall that his application would have to be looked at again and she recommended that once he is accepted for Summer, to contact them to change to Fall. Where did you hear that you would not find out until May?

Ah ha! I just spoke to an admissions officer and she verified that term changes are just not given out willy nillly. You have to complete a term change form and they are reviewed in the late spring.

i know term changes arent given out “willy nilly” but if i do try to change it i wont hear back till may

and if i find out till may it would be too late for me to make summer plans because if i were to do something in the summer id have to know by march/april at the latest cuz id need time to book flights and stuff…

Maybe you can just take an online class in something easy; a primer class to whet the pallet.
