So I’m debating whether or not to take another SAT next month (November) even though I’m taking one this Saturday (October 1st). I’ve never taken the SAT before and I’m taking the ACT Oct. 22nd. Will I theoretically do better on the second SAT since I’ll have a better idea of what to expect?
You will get little bump from one sitting and not knowing what you missed and why. If you want to raise your score, get a prep book & study. Otherwise you are wasting your money and time.
Oct. 1 sitting will be my third SAT and fifth standardized college entrance exam (I’ve taken two ACTs).
It really depends on your college though.
Are you 11th or 12th grade? That will dictate my answer to you.
@GMKoon could you elaborate on why which college you attend dictates how many tests you should take?
@midtntutor this is my first SAT I’m in 12th grade…yeah I know
I think my real question is would it be SAFER to take two SATs since I’ve never taken it before and I’m in my senior year. I’m also taking the ACT in 3 weeks
I would take it in November AND December. After 3 times you will probably max out your score anyway. So long as you are applying to score choice schools there is no downside.
@midntutor I’m a senior.
@Lotus6 Each college has its own policy regarding testing. Some require you to send all scores, whereas some allow score choice. If you plan to apply to score choice colleges, your plan of testing will differ compared to that of if you plan to apply to non-score choice colleges.
@lotus6, since you haven’t taken it much, I would take it both October and November (and possibly keep December in mind if your schools will accept it). At this point in the game, you need to be trying every chance you can, and that appears to be what you’re doing. Good luck on Saturday!
