Should I take a second foreign language?

I am a native Spanish speaker. In my middle school, a high school Spanish class was offered to a select few. I took it just for the high school credit. After the course, I was automatically enrolled for Spanish II in 9th grade. After 9th grade, I was thinking of starting French, but my counselor told me to stay in Spanish. I am now entering Junior year, with 3 years of Spanish done. This year, my classes are:
APUSH
AP Lang
AP Chem
AP Physics
Accelerated Math 3
World Affairs
Should I remove my World Affairs class in order to start French (if I did, I would continue Senior year), or should I just leave it as is? Would it hurt my chances at a good college much? I plan to study international relations or some sort of political science, so the class would be nice. Any advice?

Take World Affairs. If you want a second language you can take it in college.

Would you want to continue in French beyond senior year? I’d say it’s better to test it out and find out if you like it while it’s still free, but then again, the same applies to World Affairs. I don’t think taking either will hurt your chances at getting into a good college, so I think the main deciding factor should be deciding which one you want to test out for free. After all, you’ll be starting from scratch in international relations/poli sci when you get to college, so it’s not as though it’ll put you much ahead of the game. That, and if you’re looking at IR, a third language could come in very handy, so it may be to your advantage to start early.

(I hope that made sense – it’s late! :p)

Alright, thank you guys! I guess I’m just worried colleges will think that I started Spanish because I would find it easy.

You’re already in APUSH, so that’s enough Social Studies. I regret not taking another language in addition to Spanish, so my advice to you is to go for it.

Alright, thank you!
