I have been dealing with severe depression before I entered college and now I’m my junior year it has only gotten worse. I made some friends in freshman year and I thought they would be lifelong friends but because of my depression I have hurt them with things I said through no intention of mine and now I have lost a best friend because of this. I feel alone and I feel like my depression is only getting worse. I don’t want to make things worse with other people in my life and college is too much to bear. All this is affecting my grades and I really wanted to graduate with honors. I don’t know what to do
Seek help from a professional counselor immediately. There’s no shame in taking time off to look after your health. You are important. Good luck!
Life is not a race. It is very common for students to take more than 4 years to graduate for a wide variety of reasons. Taking a semester off for health reasons is very reasonable.
I agree with @eb23282 that you should seek out help from a professional counselor immediately. If you are messing up too badly for the current semester, you might want to ask a professional counselor at your university whether it is possible to have the semester grades taken off your record for medical reasons. The medical profession has gotten relatively good at dealing with depression and should be able to help you significantly. It can sometimes take some time to get this right, which is one reason why some students take a semester off.
Be aware that the school has seen this before. They will see it again. University is a big step.
Health is first you have to discuss your problem with college teachers.
It’s ok to take a semester off and seek help. If they recommend anti-depressants than I would do my research on that, the good and the bad. Medication is not always answer believe me I’ve had experience with it. I wish you well.
