Taking a semester off

<p>I am thinking of taking this semester off (Fall 2012) because my suicide and depression problems have gotten worse. However, I am not sure how would this impact me when I apply to MD or PhD program. If asked why, I have proof about each of them from psychologist since I was a child. Also, I am planning to transfer to another school that has accepted me before, but I am not really sure if they will accept me because I ended up withdrawing from a semester while it was already 6-8 weeks in.</p>

<p>To heck with what they think. If you aren’t alive, you aren’t going to apply to those programs/schools anyways, and if you’re depressed, you won’t be functioning at your best and your GPA will suffer, possibly making your condition worse in the process. Take the semester off, and I hope you get well soon.</p>
