So.
My school is having a bunch of AP issues. Our AP Calc teacher is leaving, and we are getting a new one. I've had multiple people tell me that calculus is ridiculously hard. I cant ask the teacheer how hard the class will be because shes not here yet. I can take AP stats. Im pretty good at math, but i dont know how i am at calculus, if ya know what i mean. I have also been considering dual enrollment. If i do all of my classes for a semester at the college, my fees are waived. But calculus will be yearlong, therefore i would have to pay the full fees for every class i take. I plan on majoring in biology and going into medicine, and im looking at UGA, UNC (out of state), wake forest, and emory, soooooo. I dont know what to do. I dont want calculus to kill my GPA, but i dont want schools to not like me because i took stats instead of calc. As of the moment, i am valedictorian. We get the 10 points for AP classes and can get up to a 105 for dual enrollment. I just need help pleeeaaassseeee. If anything is unclear, just ask. Thanks :)

Btw, the new calc teacher has taugh ap calc before

It really depends how many other AP classes you are planning for your schedule…but AP Calc does require commitment–that is for sure!

Take it. You’ll be fine.

That’s not because it’s easy…it’s because most of the people who take it are good at math. If they weren’t good at math, they’d take AB.

@ScholarsInnovate I plan on taking AP Econ, dual enrollment chemistry, adv physics, and either ap stats or ap calc. POSSIBLY AP psych

I would say that if the alternative is paying for a college class, take the AP. You also have to keep in mind that the problems with DE is that it’s not standardized like AP, and college professors don’t teach the same way as high school teachers do.

If you are valedictorian, the fact that you took stat instead of calc will definitely look to colleges that you are taking the easy way out. Take AP Calc.

Take AP Calc!

I’m in Calc right now, and it has by far been my favorite class I’ve taken (tied with physics, actually). It all depends on the teacher. It helps if he or she is fun, like my teacher was! Take it unless you have a lot of AP classes and won’t be able to handle it. It’s fun, but it’s still a lot of work.

Man up. Take Calc.
