Should I take AP Computer Science A???

Okay... I know how to program in VB, C#, & Html/Php/Javascript(From 7th grade - 9th grade) And this past month I've been studying Java. I'm pretty much finished in learning java and I took a couple practice AP test sand I got 5's on them. And I know I would easily get an A in the class...

But the problem is, how much homework will I get? Oh an I didn't force to learn computer programming from 7th-9th just for this class, I found it using google and I just started using it.

I can’t tell you how much homework you will get. That would be a question to ask your teacher and students who have taken the class. In FLVS, the class is famous for having a ridiculous workload [compared to the other APs], but it’s not that bad.

If you’re already getting 5s on practice tests and have already been programming for a while, the class might end up too easy and boring. You could take the exam in May without taking the class, and show colleges that you’re motivated and interested enough in computer science to self-study an AP. Maybe your time would be better spent in another class that would be more challenging for you?

^I agree with lidusha. Unless you want/need a GPA boost to win valedictorian or something, there really isn’t a point to taking AP CompSci A, especially since you’re entering sophomore year (I think). Find another AP or Honors class from which you could learn more, and take the easy 5 in May.

Well I’m already going to do AP Biology & AP U.S. History. And the AP Computer Science was a hybrid class(An extra class to your schedule that meets once a week.)

I’m thinking I should take it because last year(9th Grade) I screwed up and the only honor class I was in was Math lol. How am I going to compete! My GPA is 3.75/ But I only studied for 15 minutes a week.

Why don’t you consider a class in data structures at a local college or some other CS class beyond intro CS?

Parents are pooooooor. But I know plenty of other programming languages like Php, AS2, Html, SQL, C#, and VB. I’m never going to touch C++…

Its weird how I learned this just from a random google search 4 years ago.
