Should I take AP English Composition even though I already have English Composition credits?

Hello, I’m currently a high school freshman getting ready to forecast for my sophomore year classes. I was wondering if I should take AP English Language and Composition instead of Advanced Sophmore English next year? By the end of high school, I’ll have the same amount of credits as the AP course would give me, but this way it would be through dual enrollment. I hear AP English Language and Composition is quite difficult plus it would be very hard for me to get my school to let me take the class because I’d have to go through a long process with a counselor but their schedules are full because they’re also doing all the work my counselor would do since he quit upon receiving a higher paying job offer on the first day of school.

Are you trying to say that you will be taking college English composition courses while in high school?

Yes, through dual enrollment

I’d say you should still take it if you’re strong in English. It’ll help boost your GPA as it’s an AP class. I took it last year and I didn’t find it hard because I was already strong in English. However, if your school’s AP Lang teacher is known for being tough, then I’d advise you otherwise. But, if you’re a strong English student anyway, I’d recommend doing it. The exam for me was also easy. Very similar to the SAT style questions. AP Lang is really a course based on your pre-acquired skills. Did you hear AP Lang was hard as in the class/teacher at your school? Or the AP Course and exam yourself?

I heard it was difficult in general online, I haven’t heard anything about the class at my high school. However, the teacher can’t be any more difficult than my current English teacher, who would also be my Advanced Sophmore English teacher. Also, thanks for your response!
