I plan on majoring in Finance but I’m unfamiliar with the process and so I’m not sure whether I need to take a physics course in college. Can anyone with knowledge about the subject please help me out. I want a competitive schedule, of course, but I’m not going to major in anything physics related, so is it worth it? Does anyone know whether or not physics is a required course for a finance major (for a college like u of Illinois, u of Michigan, Wisconsin, etc.). Thanks!
It is not required that you have a physics class for that major at those colleges, but it may not be bad to take a science course next year (I am assuming you will be a senior).
I am taking AP Physics 1 now as a sophomore and slo looking into doing some type of business math major. I can tell you that the class is not all that hard if you pay attention, know the major concepts, and can do basic math (really nothing beyond algebra 1 and geometry).
I’m actually a sophomore too right now and I’m going to take AP Physics no matter what next year. In our school we have 2 AP Physics classes open to juniors: AP Physics 1 (the one you are currently taking) and AP Physics 1/2 (its like 2 classes in one and is supposed to be very rigorous and is 1 and a half periods long). I just want to know if there is any extra advantage to taking 1/2 instead of just 1.
Assuming that the rest of your schedule is rigorous, I see no advantage to taking 1/2 over AP Physics 1. For a finance major, you will have no further use for physics once you graduate HS.
