Here’s some background; I am a junior currently enrolled in two AP Classes (Euro and Lang) and am taking pre calc (non honors) for my math class. Next year I am taking Statistics in some form no matter what and my options are regular non honors statistics or AP. I usually average about an 89 in math but this year in precalc I ended the first grading period with an 81. AP Stat is offered during Spring at my school in which next year my schedule would be AP Gov, Honors Physics, Orchestra and Stat. I just want to know whether AP Stat would be beneficial to me and I also would like to know the skills that are most important for the class.
Is there a particular reason you’re not taking calculus?
I do not like it and my teacher didn’t recommend me for it.
AP Stat is usually considered a pretty easy math class, often times described as writing with a calculator, but at some schools has a really heavy workload (at my school the class has 3-5 hours of homework daily and even the best math students struggle) so ask others at your school what the class is like before you make a final decision.
Being able to understand statistics is an important life skill, but even if you don’t take stat in high school, you can take the class in college.
