Should I take both AP Bio and AP Chem at the same time?

Hi!

I know this question has been asked many times before, but I was just wondering what you guys all thought of this specific combination of classes:

AP Bio (weighted)
AP Chem (weighted)
AP Literature (weighted)
Spanish III Honors (weighted)
Pre-Calc 400 (Honors, weighted)
Personal Economics
Drawing/Painting 1
PE

I’m an A student and usually have about 5 APs/Honors classes a year. I participate in Key Club, Math Team, and Book Club regularly.

I also did very well in Bio/Chem Honors classes past two years and loved them.

I’m not taking a history class this year because I’ve fulfilled the credits for it and don’t really NEED it to major in biomed for college. So I figured without that extra burden of an AP history class, I could replace it with another AP science class?

What do you all think? Taking both too much for senior year?

From my experience, AP Chem and AP Bio both need their designated time for you to focus on them. Depending on your day-to-day schedule as well as your ability to manage your studies, then you can decide. I would say I really enjoyed both of these classes when I took them (AP Chem in junior year and AP Bio in sophomore year). Seeing that you are in your senior year and well into it, I don’t think that it’s a bad idea to take them to at least have some exposure to the subjects you will be focusing on in your college years as a Biomed major.
I wish you the best of luck!!

My DD took both AP Chem and AP Bio at the same time. At her school both classes do not require significant amounts of homework outside of school on a day to day basis. That being said, she did have to spend time studying for the tests which happened semi regularly for both classes. Also, she only took a total of 5 classes that year (all APs) which all also did not have too much homework outside of class on a day to day basis. For her taking both classes together was not as challenging as it would sound/ as she expected. So if you can manage your time well, then I would say go for it!
