Should I take December ACT?

Hello friends! I’m a junior, and I took the ACT in October. I got a 35 Composite (35E, 32M, 35R, 36S) and I’m wondering if I should register for the Standby Request for the December ACT (missed the reg/late deadlines). I am looking at some very competitive colleges for next year (ivies, mit, etc.) and looking to go into STEM, so I know I will have to retake to bring up my math score. I’m not sure if I should retake in December or wait until Feb next year.

Here are my pros and cons for each…
If I retake in December, chances are I will not have to take it every again and I’ll be done with standardized testing! Yay! On the other hand, it is the weekend right before my finals and my grades aren’t so hot right now…lol. I don’t know if I would be burnt out by then or have too much stress.
If I wait until Feb., I fear that it would be waiting too long. Feb is also right in the middle/slightly before of a lot of the competitions and extracurriculurs, like the Physics/Chem/etc. Olympiads, science fair, etc. My plan had been to take first semester of junior year for standardized testing and really work hard on competitions/extracurriculurs second semester. On the other hand, there is still a lot of time until Feb: I really really want a perfect ACT score, so that would give me a lot of time to perfect it.

What do you guys think? I know a 35 is a great score, but I don’t have a really good GPA and there is a lot of competitiveness in college admissions. I know for sure I want to retake it, but I am not so sure when.

Thank you! Hope you’re having a great day

Whoops… one more thing. Money is not too big a factor, so I am willing to pay the Standby Request fee if I do want to take it in December. Thanks!

I do not see any downside of taking it in December assuming you will still prepare for your midterm.
