Should I take double sciences for junior year? (Chemistry and physics)

At the moment, my schedule for junior year looks like this:
AP Language
AP US History
AP Calculus BC
Spanish 4
Chorus
Honors Physics
Animation 1

Initially, I planned to take Honors Physics junior year and AP Biology senior year. However, I’ve been doing well in Honors Chemistry (96 overall) and have been tempted to take AP Chemistry instead of Animation 1, taking it alongside Honors Physics. My strong suit is science, more so the less math intensive fields (my math is fine though).

I’m struggling to decide between what might be best for my academic future (I currently want to work towards medicine or something similar) and what I enjoy but ultimately are probably just hobbies (I love drawing and was really looking forward to finally having an art course next year). I also don’t think I want to take AP Physics 1, 2, or C even though my math is high enough because it seems like unnecessary stress for a field that I have limited interest in; it could be useful to get accustomed to intense rigor though. The area I live in requires that we take sciences of at least three different diciplines, which is the main reason I’m taking physics anyway. I asked my Chemistry teacher, and he said that Honors Physics and AP Chemistry would be a good balance.

I just want to avoid my junior year being as hellish as it is for others, especially with balancing academics, extracurriculars, and sanity. I am intending to apply to ivy league level schools, but will likely choose my state university that is competitive anyways. Summer school is currently not an option for me.

My daughter doubled and tripled up in math and science starting junior year. She knew she wanted a STEM focused college vs LAC so it worked for her. If LACs are on your radar though, I would strive for a more balanced schedule.

That’s a good schedule. Take AP chemistry senior year.

It is also okay to take Animation and AP Biology next year.
For premed you have to take Chem (and Physics) in College anyway so I am not sure if AP Chem woudl be good to get out of Chem in College.
You could also take Animation next year and AP Chem this year.

I took Honors Physics and AP Chemistry and I actually found that the physics helped a lot in my understanding what was going on in AP Chem. I’d say go for it!
