Should I take French 1 and Spanish 4 Senior Year?

So I’ve recently fallen in love with Spanish- I’m currently a junior in Spanish 3, and I think I want to major in Spanish in college. I was planning on taking AP Photography in addition to AP Studio Art, but now I’m thinking about dropping AP Photo, considering the amount of work it will be if i’m not super interested in it. So anyways, I absolutely love learning languages, and I was thinking that maybe I could try to take French 1 next year. What are your thoughts on it? Do you think it will be too difficult, unnecessary, or will it look good to colleges? Thanks so much!

I’m biased here (b/c I also love learning foreign languages) so but I’d say go for it! If you enjoy learning foreign languages, it’ll probably be easier and more enjoyable for you. As for the AP arts courses, you still have AP Studio Art, which will be a lot of work.

Not trying to sound disrespectful, but what exactly is AP Photography? According to College Board, that’s not an official AP class, so that’s why I’m confused. Is that the AP 2-D Studio Design course?

I doubt colleges will care much either way, but if you want to do it, go for it. Once you’ve learned one of the romance languages, the rest are pretty easy

AP Photography is one of the AP 2-D Studio Design courses- the other one is computer graphics

French 1 vs. AP Photography won’t make a difference to colleges. Since you’re into foreign languages, take French 1 - preferably Honors French! Or try to self teach French1 over the summer (with an online course) and skip right into French 2 (THAT will be impressive).

Colleges will not care one way or the other. I agree with MYOS1634 that if there were a way to do French over the summer in order to go into French 2, you will be better served. Should you choose to continue study French in college, HS French 1 is unlikely to get you placement into college French 2. I’m also not sure that I can see much value (beyond satisfying your thirst for knowledge, which is fine) in taking 2 AP Studio Art classes.
