I need advice! I am a EECS incoming freshman.

So I took both Calc AB and BC. I got 5's on both AP tests. I also took a course in linear algebra and differential equations at a nearby university while in high school.

I definitely will skip Math 1A. But should I skip Math 1B? I feel like I haven't completely mastered calculus and i kindof "half-learned" everything.
But if its almost impossible to get an A in Math 1B and its a really pointlessly hard class, then I definitely will skip it. I don't know.

Will skipping 1B really be useful? Will I not learn anything and get a low grade in 1B?

go to 53 you'll be fine...don't waste your time retaking stuff..
im also in similar shoes as you, except pre-med, and im doing 53 as well
be confident

Yes, definitely skip 1B. No need to have your GPA take a hit just because you're unsure of how well you know the material (especially when 53 doesn't really depend on the material in 1B).

wait just to reconfirm...53 is material-wise harder but curve-wise easier than 1B, making it the better bet, right? Also, it is recommended for 1st year Pre-Meds to skip 1B and take 53 right (assuming 5 on Calc BC and AB)?

hmm...ok that sounds good.
i think i will skip it now. But i think i'm going to take 54 before 53. 54's material seems easier. i want my first semester to be easier. 53 seems like it requires more prior knowledge than 54 does.

santabanta - Nope, I'm EECS. I feel 1B's material is a LOT easier than 53's, but I ended up getting a B in 1B and an A in 53. 53 requires barely any prior knowledge, by the way (if you don't end up doing well in 53, I highly doubt it'll be because you forgot stuff from 1B).

I believe next semester there will be only 1 Math 54 section at 8:00 a.m. that will have up to 600 students...Yeah. So, I'd personally take 53 with Hutchings this Fall instead.
