Should I take regular physics and AP Chem together or seperate?

A lot of my friends are deciding to just take physics in Junior year and then Ap chem in senior year. I was wondering what is recommended.

What else are you taking? What have you already taken? What are your interests for college majors, if any?

There are rarely any general answers regarding courses schedules that apply to everyone.

As a broad generalization, taking the three main sciences - Chem/physics/bio - plus one AP of one of them, across all four years of high school, will be sufficient for any college application.

Completing a fourth year of a foreign language, and the core courses in English, math, history/SS should be taken care of before doubling up anything.

Depending on interests, I’d suggest a programming course - intro or AP CSP/A depending on what you’ve already taken, before two sciences.

@RichInPitt right now I am taking AP Bio and I am leaning towards studying science in college but am still not completely sure. Programming also appeals to me but I’ve never done it so I’m not sure if I should. Thanks!

I’m currently a junior and am taking AP Chem and AP Physics 1 & 2. I really like it because I’m really into science, but if you’re interested in programming I’d suggesting taking that and/or physics just to explore if you don’t have a specific major picked out. However, if you really love chemistry and know that you have a good work ethic, I’d say go for it and take AP Chem and physics. I’m just a random high school student though, I’d talk to your current and past teachers to see what they would recommend, that helped me a lot when picking classes for this year. Also if you have any questions about AP Chem or any other classes, I’d be happy to answer. Hope this helps and good luck!
