I already took the SAT 3 times but wondering if it is bad to take it again for the 4th time?
The 1st time i had
1780 then 1870 then 1970
but my 3rd score didnt reach my goal-at least 2200 :/
so should I take it again in January? or is it too late for ivy leagues and other top schools?
including cornell? nyu? and mit? <-will i even have that chance :(
please give me advice? =(

I think it might negatively impact your admissions if to take it a 4th time. You should probably try the ACT instead, some people do better on it than the SAT.

No.
Go for the ACT; 4 times is way too many. And depending on your ethnicity, I think 1970 is still too low for MIT… same for Cornell.

I would say go for it only if you know you can score in the 2150-2200 range. If not, then you will look bad.

well what was your CR + M score? if its good then you could apply to Cornell or other schools that look at CR+M scores only.

take it again if you insist that you wanna pursue your dream!

Honestly, my advice for you would be to look for some schools that are less selective than those you listed, like UCLA, NYU, Georgetown—judging only by your SATs, even these could be reaches. You should also have at least one safety, i.e. one that you are sure you are getting into.

To answer your question, I don’t think taking the SAT for a forth time would hurt if you can break the 2000 threshold. However, it could make it look worse if your score stayed in the 1900s or dropped back down.

Can colleges see how many times you take the SAT?

Given your past scores, I really don’t think you will break 2200, it’s harder than you think. And I think you’re aiming too high with Cornell and MIT
