Hey, so because I'm an incoming international student who couldn't attend calso, all the German R5A classes (the one I want to take) filled up. There are waitlists for basically ALL of them. I can't think of any other easy/interesting R&C course to fulfill the requirement (I heard scandinavian was easy?) and I want to avoid the english/rhetoric/classic courses as much as possible as there is nothing I hate more than reading large volumes of text and writing lots of essays on them (I am hardcore science/math lol).

So I just want to ask, should I try my chance on the waitlist for this apparently popular course (German R5A), or should I try to enroll in it this spring, as the tele-bears date is then fair for everyone? If I do choose to waitlist on it this fall, is it worth tele-bears phase I-ing it? Because I have Math 53 and Physics 7A to take, both of which are required for my major. I dunno how fast these are going to fill up; if they're full by Tele-bears phase II then I am screwed as that will set off the timing for my course track lol. I am majoring in physics btw, and I am trying to graduate in 3 years to save money; I think its very doable as long as I don't get screwed up by full classes everywhere. So yeah, should I try to enroll in it this fall or this spring? Do they even offer the first part of R&C in the spring? If there are any other good choices for fulfilling the R&C please let me know.

Physics 7A (but not H7A, which you may be interested in if you intend to major in physics) is an Early Drop Deadline course, which means that it is a high demand course, so it is something you probably want to put in Phase I.

Yes, both R&C A and R&C B courses are offered each semester.

The courses which are likely to be easiest for you are the ones where the reading list is more interesting to you. Check the department web sites for reading lists, or check the book list for each section in [Home Page - Online Schedule Of Classes](http://schedule.berkeley.edu) .

If you are in L&S, then you may want to consider L&S R44 if you like the reading list ( [Class Textbook and Course Materials Requirements courtesy of Cal Student Store](efollett) ). While it is an extra large (5 unit) course, it covers half of the R&C requirement and one of these L&S 7-course breadth requirements: Art and Literature, Historical Studies, Social and Behavioral Sciences.

Just so you know, German R5A is only offered in the Fall. However, Scandinavian R5A is offered in the fall and spring. Other easy RC classes to consider include slavic and italian studies. However, everything comes down to the GSI you get in the end so hope for an easy one!
