Hi,
I took only one SAT and got a 2280, which is not my goal score but better than I usually score. I am taking the ACT next month, and I am aiming for a 34-36. I was wondering if I should still take an SAT Subject Test (or two)? I know that most colleges say SAT + 2 Subject Tests OR ACT plus Writing, but I don’t want to risk not having a subject test done. If I did a Subject Test, I would do Math 2, which requires quite a bit of prep since I’ve never done PreCal. Should I just focus on the ACT and not prepare for the Math 2?
Also, I do not know what I am going to study.
What colleges are you looking at? My daughter’s colleges that require or recommend a subject test do so regardless of whether you take SAT or ACT.
First, if you are going to take subject tests, you will need two not one. The colleges that require them, require two, and the colleges that highly recommend them but do not require them recommend two (except Georgetown recommends three), and thus if you are intending to apply to any of those coolleges, get two subject tests not one.
Only some of the colleges that require subject tests take ACT w/writing in lieu of both the SAT and subject tests, For example, if you are intending to apply to Cornell or Dartmouth, you must submit two subject tests even if you submit ACT rather than SAT. Also, all this colleges that highly recommend subject tests, like Yale and Princeton highly recommend them even if you submit ACT instead of SAT.
