Should I take the ACT again or try the SAT?

So far, I’ve taken the ACT twice. I first got a 27 with an essay score of 6. I took it again and raised my essay score to an 8, but got a composite score of 26. My math and science scores were the lowest. Since I’m going to be a senior next year, I want to apply to colleges early. That means I only can take one more test. I could take the ACT again but I risk getting the same score or getting even lower like I did. I heard the SAT has easier math and no science. That makes me want to try the SAT but I’ve never taken it before so I could not like the test. Does anyone have any suggestions or tips? Thank you.

You can try out a practice SAT test either online or from the official blue book. This will give you a good idea on how you would do on the SAT. From there, you can decide which test you like better and feel more confident about.

Yes, definitely practice for the SAT. I also found the split up math sections on the SAT more helpful than the 60-questions-in-60-minutes craziness of the ACT, and the lack of a science section was also nice. It’s different for everyone, but I found the SAT to be structured in a more manageable way, and hopefully it’ll be the better test for you, too
