I took the SAT for the second time in June. I know I did not do that well. In my practice tests, I was getting 2300's, but I already know I have a lot wrong. I really don't know how to improve anymore. I heard that the ACT is a lot easier. I will be a senior in the fall. The only test date that I think I can take it on is in October. Should I take the ACT in the fall? Any responses would really help me. Thanks.

Yeah Me too. I'd like to know that as well.

It doesn't hurt to take the ACT (other than giving up time and money) because if you don't like your score, you don't have to report it. You can even take the ACT multiple times, and report only the best score, unlike with the SAT.
Some people do better on the ACT, some on the SAT -- hard to predict.

Take it. There is nothing to lose.

Whens the last ACT you can take for regular decision and early decision?

I hope September and October for both at least.

hey, you can always try taking ACT standby. i'm planning on doing that for the 9th (that is, if i do well on a practice test tomorrow)

hey, I was just about to post a similar topic so i guess I'll post my question here.

I took the SAT for the first time in May and got:
770 math
780 writing
680 CR

1450/2230

I am probably going to retake in November to get 750+ for CR and 800 on math.

Is the ACT for me?

Alright. Im planning on taking the ACT standyby. I have a few of questions...

1) When does standby testing registration has to be done. We have until the morning of the test or what?

2) Also, does standby testing harm you except for the money that we have to pay?

3) Generally on the ACT, do u have to put where you are choosing to send these scores to or can you opt it or something?

4) Suppose I get a bad score on ACT and I put the colleges I wanted to.. what do i normally do if i dont want to send my scores to those colleges I selected.

5) Does Standby registration give you a guarantee about TAKING THE TEST or is it like a walk in and you either get it or dont?

Please answer those questions. That will be very helpful for me.

Thanks

I would recommend taking the ACT. It's more knowledge based and less ambiguous.

YES!!!! some schools (actually all schools look at your SAT and ACT scores)....will look at your scores and sometimes you might do better on ACT than SAT, or vice versa. For me, i got 28 on ACT and 1990 for SAT. my college converted my SAT to a 30 ACT. you should definitely take ACT, b/c it's a different type of test feeling, and who knows...you might perform better. please take it AT LEAST ONCE.

Jsmith, in regards to #4, you must leave the fields BLANK, otherwise your scores will be sent to the colleges you listed. It will cost more money, but at least you'll get to choose which scores will be reviewed.

Anyone want to Answer my other questions...

Call ACT Registration Dept. -- they are very nice and will be able to answer all your questions! 319-337-1270
