Hello! I’m currently a senior and I’m taking a dual AP/IB Literature class. I am definitely going to take the AP exam, since I got a 5 on the AP Language one and have high hopes for this one as well. However, I’m wondering if I should take the IB certificate test as well? I’d like to know if the IB exam would give me additional credit (would it count as a different course than the AP?), or if most schools would only accept the AP or the IB Lit alone, not together. I will be taking the same course either way, I just would like to avoid the extra work of the IB certificate in that class if I don’t need it.
If anyone knows about particular schools accepting multiple English credits, these are my top choices:
American University
Brandeis University
Northeastern University
George Washington Univeristy
Thank you so much for the help!
You could take both for double coverage in case a school accepts one but not the other. However, you are not likely to get double credit at schools that accept both.
Check each school’s web site for AP and IB credit.
No
Colleges also publish their credits awarded for each sort of exam: IB HLs, IB SLs and APs. They vary from school to school and department from department. It’d be in your best interest to find out in advance what to expect, assuming you score well. good luck
