Should I take the old SAT once more?

Hi guys,

I recently received my December scores from the Collegeboard and they weren’t that great.

I got: 780 Math, 740 CR, and 610 Writing (lmao) for a total score of 2130

This is a drop of 40 points from November and now my superscore is 2200 (800 Math, 740 CR, 660 Writing).

My question is: Should I try one last time and take the final administration of the Old SAT in January or should I just focus on the ACT/New SAT? Would taking it again and getting a ehh score (2100s) be detrimental to my college application?

A little bit about me: I’m a NC junior who isn’t really aiming for Ivy League/HYPS. I’m interested in attending UNC, Wake, Duke, or a combined BS/MD program. Regardless of the school I attend, I kinda wanna be the “big fish in the small pond”, hence my apprehension towards the Ivy Leagues, as I know I’d be below average there. Feel free to inquire further if you have any constructive feedback that you’d like to add.

Merry Christmas!

The schools you are listing are all lakes or oceans. It only makes sense to take them again if you can study and be sure to improve your scores-otherwise it makes no sense to take them again. And your Math and CR are great. You can show mastery of writing in other ways.

hey my bad I’m kind of a novice here. what do you mean by “lakes or oceans”?
