I am a Senior and last took the SATs in November. My scores didn't change at all and were below the standards of the schools I want to get in. My GPA is also a little below the average standards. I was wondering if it would make a difference in my chances of getting accepted into any of the schools I wanted to go to if I took the SATs in January and improved. Would taking the test in late January have any affect on me getting into the schools I want to go to or will it not make a difference because I'm a Senior and I will be taking the test too late into the admission process?

Do the schools to which you're applying accept SAT scores from the January sitting? If they do, and the scores come back before admissions decisions are made, why not give it a try? (When do the January scores come back?) If you were to have the scores sent only to you and not to the colleges, you would be in a position to give them to your schools only if you liked the outcome.
