Hi I am currently a sophomore attending a community college and I want to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering. I have applied to both University of Minnesota Twin Cities and the University of Washington Seattle. If I get accepted into both, which one should I attend? I know the ranking for the UMN Twin Cities Chem. Engineering program is ranked 4th in the country, but what other reasons makes UMN a better school to attend than UW. Thanks in advance for any advice.

What state do you live in? Is one or the other in-state for you? That could be a deciding factor, as I assume the in-state option will be cheaper.

Both are out of state, so the cost will be about the same.

You need to look more closely at the costs. U of MN has pretty cheap OOS tuition (although they are talking about raising it). I think U of W is a lot more expensive for OOS – your cost difference may be significant (possibly as much as $15,000/year, take a look at their websites).

I should of mentioned i would be living with relatives if I were to go to washington. So the costs would be about the same. The person who will help me pay for the tuition also says that cost is not an issue. I kinda just wanted to know the difference between the two chem engineer programs, and why one is better than the other.

If you haven’t already (the posting history function is not working), you should also ask your question on the Engineering forum.
