Should I Transfer To UGA From Kennesaw State? (would like advice especially from transfer students)

I applied to transfer to UGA, and I got accepted. Kennesaw State is chill, but I’m bored with it (socially, mainly).

My main concern is UGA’s difficulty. I’m not the type of person who can spend hours studying. I could’ve gone to UGA for my first 2 years (I’m good at academics), but decided to go to KSU because I was afraid of being a slave to the textbooks.I have a good memory, and never studied for more than an hour per test at KSU and still managed to get a good enough GPA (3.7). Whats your thoughts on UGA’s difficulty?

I’m still undecided about my major, but I’m thinking something in Grady, like journalism. (So perhaps that would require less studying than say, a math/science major).

I also have concern about adjusting. Like being totally lost and confused about just how things work around there in general.

Oh, and at KSU I never had to take dreaded 8am classes or even anything before noon honestly. I know UGA has no night classes, but are early classes inevitable?

Any insights and advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Hello catscratchfever,

UGA definitely has a vibe that provides an atmosphere for studying extensive hours. Most students will strive for the best with some outliers. Even if you choose not to study so much and get decent grades at KSU, UGA will without doubt challenge you to work harder for your GPA (especially after you finish your underclassmen classes).

There is no doubt that UGA is a large campus and you will not get used to it overnight. There are lots of buildings in many different locations so it may take some time to adjust.

Lastly, you will most likely have schedule conflicts. Some students will take 8AM classes just because it fits their schedule even if their next class begins later in the evening. Everything is very competitive here so you should get more greedy for what you desire.

Goodluck.
