Hello everyone,
I am currently having a dilemma with what I want to do next year for college. I am currently at a small university and am thinking about switching to a bigger university. The bigger university is much cheaper, and closer to home. I play collegiate soccer currently, but if i switch to the bigger college I will not be able to continue to play at the same level. The bigger school is much closer to home and I would be closer to many of my friends and my girlfriend. I am a business major and intend to go to law school. I have friends on the soccer team currently and hangout with them during the week, but I currently go home almost every weekend and will most likely commute from home to the smaller university, unless I decide to transfer. Just need some other peoples input on what I should do.
It sounds like other than soccer, your school is not a great fit. I only say that because you are going home every weekend (we are lucky if we see our son on quarter breaks or in the summer). Without knowing your fnancial situation it is hard for anyone here to make a judgement. However, if you are planning on law school, any money that you can save on your undergrad degree is desirable. Have you looked into playing club level soccer at the larger university? It might be an acceptable alternative to what you are currently doing as club teams at larger universities are often extremely competitive. It sounds like you have not applied to transfer yet so would the transfer take place in the 2016/17 school year? I would say that if soccer is not an overwhelming necessity during college, the transfer to the larger, less expensive, and closer to home school might benefit you.
