I am currently a student at James Madison University and I was accepted as a transfer to William and Mary. I am super excited about this, but I am still wondering if it is the best decision for me to transfer. I am looking to study kinesiology and Health Sciences and I want to go to Physical Therapy School after undergrad. I would love some advice from anyone on what you think would be the best decision for me! Will going to William and Mary help me to get into a great pt school? How are the kinesiology/health science classes and how is the program in general? Are they difficult/ could I get potentially get a good gpa there if I work hard (I did not have the best test scores, but I did very well at JMU)? Please let me know what you think?! Thanks!!
Congrats on your acceptance! One of my good friends just graduated as a kinesiology and health sciences major at William & Mary. I am not incredibly familiar with the program, although I can answer other questions you may have about W&M. Since you mentioned that you were interested in physical therapy, you might want to check out this.
From what I have heard from my friend, one of the main things that may set W&M apart from other programs is the opportunities for mentorship. Many of his closest mentors that encouraged him, gave him advice, and challenged him were the professors at the college. How well you do or what graduate schools you get into, is large part dependent on your own effort, but according to the website “W&M students with GPAs between 3.3 and 3.5 are usually accepted into PT graduate school, and students with GPAs over 3.5 are always accepted into PT graduate school.”
If you are curious about who my friend is, it just so happens that he is currently featured at the top of the “featured story” list on the kinesiology page. Go check it out!
