I am currently a freshman at Boston University. Although I like it here and have made friends, this school is just too big and hectic for me. There is no campus or school spirit, and I now realize that's something I want. I really want to transfer to Boston College for next fall. However, I read that applicants don't find out if they're accepted to BC until June; by then BU wants students to put down a deposit for housing and registration. I don't know what to do; if I got into BC, I'd lose my BU deposit. If I tell my friends at BU I want to transfer none of them will want to room with me next in case I leave, and I'll have no roommate if I'm rejected from BC. Should I take the risk? Please help!

This is one of the trials and tribulations of a transfer student. My D faced a similar situation and she told the roommate-to-be of her possible transfer. The girl was OK with it, but if she wasn’t, my D was prepared to take a single or a random roommate if she didn’t transfer. June is pretty late notice, ours was earlier, so the housing deposit was not an issue.

So I’m a sophomore at BU and also looking to transfer. I think your best bet would be to let BU Housing know your predicament and see if you can keep your deposit while waiting on BC. I was thinking about applying to BC–do you know how many transfers they take?

i say take the risk.
im in the same situation, and im taking the risk. and i dunno about boston college, but i know alot of colleges send out there decisions up to a month before they say, so you could get your letter in may!
