I am homeschooled but in my state you have to be enrolled in a cover school. Valedictorian is selected from the graduating seniors in the cover school. I have been selected as valedictorian out of my class of 96. Should I tell the OUA? My mother was concerned that it would reflect badly on us since most public schools don’t announce valedictorian until a few weeks before graduation.
Yes, you should absolutely update them. My D, also homeschooled, was valedictorian and notified them as soon as she knew for sure.
The homeschool admissions counselor understands that coverings do things differently than public schools. Our covering, for example, bases valedictorian status on standardized test grades since many homeschoolers have 4.0’s, and there are not 5-point classes to inflate GPA’s or to distinguish between the rigors of the individual curricula. Her admissions counselor took it all in stride.
Congratulations, musicgeek97!
Thank you! That’s what our cover does as well.
