I got waitlisted at Brown, and I just had a stellar performance in my Texas regional mathematics meet, claiming 1st in four areas, 2 of which were the highest scores in the entire state, and bringing home a record gold medals from the event, and I have more to tell to Brown about this past semester. I was also wondering what I should include in my one page letter to Brown (or if I send them anything… is there a limit)? I want to express my latest accomplishments, my willingness to still to go to Brown because it is my dream school with more discrete reasons as to why it is the one University of choice that I would just love to go to, and I don’t know if I should, but should I add the university I would attend if I don’t get offered admission through the waitlist? The school I would attend is Texas A&M University at College Station.

A little clarification: I plan to send them the letter electronically (either by e-mail or FAX), so if someone could give me the appropriate e-mail I would be extremely thankful.

Congratulations! Those are amazing accomplishments, and Brown would be lucky to have you and I think would want to know about it. Why don’t you email the letter to your admissions counselor? If you are not sure who that is, just call Admissions to find out.

They’ll probably have you send it here: admission_undergraduate@brown.edu
And the fax number is: 401 863-9300

Something else I would add, if you feel inclined to mention the school you will attend otherwise, is to include what Brown offers that your soon-to-be current school does not.

Alright, thanks Ambitious, I’ll look into that. First though I’m going to ensure that I contact the admissions by phone tomorrow so that I could get a hold of who my admissions counselor. I’m definitely going to be writing Brown a letter about why I feel it is the perfect school for me. I also feel dumb because I forgot to include the 500+ hours of community service I have into my application, so hopefully showing that I have 500+ hours will help a lot. Is there a recommended limit on the length of my letter though?
