If you won a prize in a competition and were awarded a non-trivial amount of money as a prize (say, $400+), should you list the prize money, or will that come across as braggy/presumptuous?

bump since post got relegated to bottom

Absolutely not. You should never EVER mention money awarded or paid to you on college apps (such as salary).

@guineagirl96 Why not?

I think it’s fine to mention prize money awarded, but leave out the amount.

@Renomamma exactly what i meant idk if that’s what came across :)

The amount makes you look money centered and is TMI for colleges.

I think mentioning the award is great, not sure why the money should matter and it could be negatively perceived by some reps so why take the chance.

Let’s say someone won scholarship to do some activity (not for college). Should this be mentioned? I do not see negative side of this.

@seal16 mentioning the scholarship is fine. Its mentioning the amount awarded that’s the problem.
For example, on my app last year, I listed Oberlin Baroque Performance Institute High School Scholarship, but I didn’t mention that it was half tuition. The money aspect is petty, TMI, and has no place on a college app.
