So how should I write them? I have heard both sides. I know for high school they tell you to write it in a narrative form. Is it the the same for transfers?
Thanks!!!!!!

The CA main transfer essay prompt tends to make a narrative essay more difficult. Of course you could perhaps start out with narrative, but you still need to address the reasons why you are transferring and (if not asked in a supplemental essay) why the college is right for you and what you will bring to the college.

Objective works best for transfer essays. Too often a narrative one turns into a plea for sympathy or puts you to sleep.

If you’re good at narrative writing, then I don’t see a problem! However, objective essays can be extremely effective. Personally, I’m an objective writer, so if I try to make my essays sound narrative, it becomes convoluted and messy. For my transfer essay, I made it straight to the point - and it worked. I know someone who transferred to UPenn with a very objective essay, stating why he wanted to study anthropology there, and he got in. Write whichever method is better for you.
