showers at boarding school

Well, I think things have improved since I was at BS and living in the appropriately named Edsal House. I lived on the third floor. To take a shower I walked down two flights of stairs, through the common room, and down into the basement. The shower was an open, unheated room in basement with a drain in the center and about 6 shower heads on the walls.

oh. 0.o
haha omg for a minute i was kinda freaking out too, my brother's really shy (cuz he's gonna be a 14 yr old junior) and hed never be able to deal w/ a lack of privacy...

just as a question, is idyllwild arts the only school out there w/ in-room bathrooms?

Choate's are private in all dorms (girls and guys). They gym showers for guys are communal, though I doubt the girls' are.

anybody know about st. pauls?

yea im going to st pauls next year
&& there better be some private showers
or ughhh that will soo totally suck
=[

Yess, I'm glad Choate's are private! ^^

i go to andover and every dorm has individual shower stalls.
generally they range from 2 showers:3 girls (my dorm's small-- but this is extremely rare) to like 2 showers: 10-14 girls in the bigger dorms.

i'm fairly certain that the guy's showers have roughly the same format.
except in the gym-- girls get shower stalls, but boys don't. haha sucks.

Are you allowed to take showers in the morning and the evening after sports?

Because I like to feel fresh the whole day; not just for dinner.

At my son's school, you can't go to the dining hall in your sports practice clothing, so, yes, they take showers before dinner as well as in the morning.

wow, never really thought about this. kinda funny.

I guess none of you have ever gone skinny dipping? :)

No. And I don't plan on doing that with a roomful of girls. At least when you're skinny dipping, you're inside water, not standing up being sprayed with water, unlike showers.

hmmm, but if it takes showering in front of a dormful of girls to go to andover, i'm totally willing! lol.

Just to put things in historical perspective, I was talking with my uncle, who went to Groton in the 1930ā€™s - yeah heā€™s REALLY old. Back then forget about separate showers or curtains, they didnā€™t have hot water. Seriously. Also, no separate dorm rooms for underclassmen - only cubicles. Imagine taking a shower in a dorm that probably had little or no heat, in the winter, in New England, when the water was probably about 35 degrees.

You kids today have it easy.:)

honestly, most dorm showers these days have some sort of separation! if notā€¦yikes. iā€™m really self-consciousā€¦lack of privacy would suck.

Honestly guys, looking back on this two years later, its amusing. There is nothing to worry about it and it is no big deal. So donā€™t worry haha

Yes the showers in the locker rooms at St. Paulā€™s are private. So are the shower stalls in the dorms. Lotā€™s of kids use their dormā€™s showers after sports. It is up to you. But nice to leave sweaty clothes in your locker in the gym.

Very few people use the shower curtains in the gym though, well not for the guys. Itā€™s kind of looked down upon.

Wat about hotchkiss???
I donā€™t even no wat 2 think about this lol
