I will be applying to MIT, Wellesley, Smith, Scripps, Claremont McKenna, and various in state public schools. Although my GPA, SAT scores, academic/athletic achievements, community service, and extra-curricular activities are adequate (especially considering the average suburb public school I go to), I would really like my personality to shine through my application. I'm a very outgoing, ambitious, and social person but I'm afraid the admissions committee won't be able to see it through simply my stats and personal statement (which by the way is on character vs. achievement). Any ideas?

in your resume you can write your heart out. just make sure you arent too boastful or too modest. both harm your impression. keep it within a page and make short paragraphs according to relevance. choose your own format, dont copy others.

What could I talk about in my resume though? I already listed out all the things I’m involved in in my actual application…sorry could you please clarify?

well you could elaborate a little on your ECs i guess. you could mention the awards and certificates that matter to you. you could mention your academics too, but only if its outstanding. hope this helps.

p.s. im in my juniour year of high school. a very close cousin of me is in cornell though.

Interviews should allow you to shine right through.

Yeah, I’ve done/will do interviews for every school I apply for. However, I don’t think the interviews are weighed that heavily. My SAT scores are a little lacking for a few of the schools, especially MIT and I need some way to make up for them… 2170 total (780 M, 670 CR, 720 W)
