*sigh*... I got my PSAT exam back...

Critical Reading: 59; Math: 52; Writing Skills: 51

Index: 162... I scored in the 70% percentile (it said in comparison to HS juniors, though).

The thing is, I had never seen a SAT exam prior to this... but I wanted at least a 170.. ahhhhhhhh.. my priority is to raise all of those by 20 points (which I hope I can do with a few prep books).

I'm a sophomore, by the way.

EDIT: The highest score of the sophomore class was a 168... haha.

Not in the nation...I know loads of people did better than me and I got a 197 (I'm a sophomore).

CR: 64; Math:63; Writing: 70

94th percentile (in comparison with HS juniors).

Now all I need to do is study like hell for next year. But it's always good to know that as a sophomore, PSAT scores don't event count.

I too am a sophomore- and was slightly dissapointed with my score (176). Hopefully I'll be able to bring it up a lot within a year or two though :)

Crimsondreams- Well, you only have a year, lol. Not two. PSAT isn't offered for seniors.

I got Cracking the PSAT by Princeton Review so that's what I'll be studying off of. I also recently obtained the blue book from Collegeboard so that ought to be good practice, even though it's geared toward the SAT I.

Uh, I think it was. I'm looking at it right now, and right next to my percentile, it says 'In Comparison To College Bound Juniors'.

Anyways, even though my 162 isn't spectacular... I guess it's ok for a sophomore in the South Bronx... ;)

EDIT: I really think I would've scored higher if I would've taken the PSAT before... damn.

"Well, you only have a year, lol. Not two."

Haha yes, I meant on the actual SAT. oops!

Well if the top score in the nation for a sophomore was a 168 then how did I get a 197?

I'm sure we'll all improve. And good point about your location, suavesolicitor. ;)

I mean, of sophomores in my school. Nationally, I was in the 70th percentile in comparison to juniors.

Ahh, but it's really a wake up call, I guess. I mean -- I'd never seen a PSAT/SAT test before I took that test.. ahaha. Nonetheless, I'm sure with a little motivation, I can raise those scores into the 700 range.

i got 200 last year and was about 96 percentile.

I got mine back too. Our homecoming was the night before the PSAT's and of course I didn't want to miss out on the fun. Learned my lesson though, got less than 3 hours sleep and the score shows it:( I feel kinda bad for screwing up my chance at a scholarship but it is just one test. I'll get more sleep for the SAT and maybe even study for it ;)

Hey, at least you've got yours back ;) We get them next week, I think - I asked my counselor earlier but apparently she was caught telling someone else and was penalized for that, so I'm still in the dark. Sophomore here too..scored 204 as a frosh.

I got mine back, I got a 220 and Im a sophmore :P

I got a 195 as a freshman. It's not really that great though when you consider the fact that I got a 193 last year.

157 Junior. OMG! I am a DUMBASS!

yaharg!! I get my scores tomorrow...kinda nervous although i can pretty much see myself getting a low score. On my practice tests i got like 190 though. Personally I found the practice tests (I used the green and blue book from Kaplan) a lot harder than the actual PSAT. What did you guys think of the Kaplan prepbook compared to the actual test?

Haha our homecoming was on the night of the day I took the PSAT!!! It was nice to chillax and dance after a painful PSAT morning(time flew by rather quickly actually).

anisha08- Using the Princeton Review Cracking the PSAT book, I took a practice test and got a 188. I thought it was a lot more difficult than the actual PSAT itself and I ended up getting a 197. :)

wow class of 08 you're smart! :D

you guys aren't helping her when you say you got 200 soph year, or 220 or 195 freshman year...
suave, dont worry about it...the sat is really where it counts, make sure you study for it at least a little

Class of '08 pride right here. :D

And Sarorah, I dunno if your comment was directed toward anyone in particular, but in my post about my score I did mention that ultimately, the PSAT plays no role in college admissions until junior year, and even then, the most you can get is National Merit Finalist, which doesn't do anything more than add another thing to put on a resume.
