<p>One of the ways I amuse myself after getting all those small letters in the mail, is to check which on the signatures on the letters are actually real. Some are hard to tell, so the only foolproof way to check is to lick your finger and run it over the signature. Here are my results:</p>
<p>Barnard's rejection : real
Brandeis acceptance : real
UMD's acceptance + Honors : both fake
NYU's waitlist : fake
Columbia's waitlist : didn't even attempt to look real </p>
<p>Anyone else out there want to perform the wet finger test and share?? Its so not as dirty as it sounds.<br>
Anyway my hypothesis so far is that the smaller schools are more able to sign all the letters. It would be interesting to see if acceptances and rejections from the same schools were different.</p>
<p>Tufts accept - real
Macalester waitlist - real
American accept - fake
Boston U accept - fake
George Washington accept - haven't received yet</p>
<p>Duke, Brown reject as well as UNC, Cornell waitlist -- fake
They even changed the print color and smudged out some areas to look like it was written in uneven ballpoint pen.
It's like they're trying to insult my intelligence in detecting real and fake signatures...more so than they did by rejecting/half acssedly rejecting me. </p>
<p>As for the UCs, all of them are fake. Yea right like they would personally sign 40,000 rejections/acceptances.</p>

UMass acceptance letter 1 (from dept.)- real
UMass Accept. letter 2 (from grad school)- fake</p>
<p>i can't find my penn acceptance letter, but the one they sent me about penn previews has a real signature.</p>
<p>You mean you don't keep your acceptances and rejections in a neat little pile by your bed so you can read them over again every night before you go to sleep?</p>
