Significance of National AP scholar award before applying to college?

i would like to know the significance of this. is it even worth it?

Considering how few people do it, I'd say it is. The more AP courses the better your app looks after all.

The award itself is not signficant. It's the fact you managed so many AP's, and how very few others managed it. The fact you took 8 AP's before sr year is what's impressive.

Cool. For me, I don't have a 4.0 UW. Will the adcoms still regard my taking 10 APs before senior year impressive? Like will it at least partially overshadow my imperfect unweighted GPA?

Depending on how close it is, it'll possibly completely overshadow it. Like a 2400 SAT, it's not really a big deal to have a 4.0 as much as it is to have a very high GPA. The range differs depending on how competitive your high school is, but if you have a 3.9, you pretty much have nothing to worry about.

Ok. thank you very much. I have taken 10 APs by the end of junior year, and to date, my UW GPA is ~3.95. In terms of the competitiveness of our high school, we have like 10 people go to Ivy caliber schools each year. Does this count as competitive enough? Hopefully I'll be ok. Otherwise, I'll be soooo sad :(

no thats not nearly enough
youre an embarrassment to society

Niloy, at a school that competitive a 3.95 is absolutely nothing to even begin worrying about, especially considering the very, very high rigor of your courseload. I'd say you have a fantastic transcript.
