AP National Recognition

What are the requirements for this award, I can't seem to find it. I thought it was at least 8 AP's but I am not sure. I took 2 junior year and am hopingto take 5 classes and 1 self study exam to make the 8

Is there anything special about the award because I know colleges won't see it because the application process will obviously be done.

Well, you're right about the fact that colleges won't see it. It's pointless then. Don't take the tests unless you need the credits, or love the subjects.

national ap scholar = 8 tests with scores of 4 or 5, and cumulative average of atleast 4.0 of ALL tests.

if you have 9 tests with 4/5 on 8 of them and an average greater than 4 does that count?

yes thats the whole point.

It's only noteworthy if you get it before senior year, and even more impressive if you get it before junior year.

how many get it before junior year?

You can get it whenever you qualify for it?

So, if I will have taken 11 AP exams by the end of junior year and gotten 4's/5's on 8 of them, I should get the National AP Scholar Award after I get my scores the summer after junior year?

Is it based on AP Grades or AP exams? If I take an exam that has a subscore (music theory, calc bc), are the two scores averaged and weighted as one?

subscores are not included...

And you got me on the pre-junior National AP Scholar thing, lol. I'd take a gander and say less than 40 kids do that every year.

dont you only need 6 aps and get 4s or 5s on them?

no...its 8.

8 AP's .

what AP award do you get for like 5 or 6 APs and scores of 4/5 on them?

ap scholar with distinction or something like that.

its on collegeboard, just search for ap awards.
