<p>So I got an email from Carnegie Mellon, telling me that they'd waive my application fee if I applied. Specifically, this is what it said:</p>
<p>"Your application for the 2007 Program for Diversity indicates you are a serious student. We applaud you for wanting to expand and strengthen your educational background.</p>
<p>While this letter is not an offer of admission, based on your interest in our summer programs you have the background needed to be a successful freshman applicant. We therefore invite you to submit an application for the fall 2008 freshman class. Recognizing your interest in Carnegie Mellon, no fee will be required when submitting the fall 2008 freshman application."</p>
<p>So...does this mean anything? (btw, I applied to "Programs for Diversity", but got wait listed)</p>
<p>Jesus effing Christ.</p>
<p>What the hell did you do to get this letter?</p>
<p>Of course it means you've been accepted! Congratulations!</p>
<p>i disagree with theotherguy.
i got the email, too, and so did those of my friends who applied/attended diversity. the person (mr. elliott?) emailed it to every single person ever in contact with diversity program. the fact that they emailed me, while im already accepted, and emailed my other friend, who isnt even considering cmu, shows some flaws in their system. i was laughing when i read the email.
in my personal opinion, it's just like any other advertising emails from colleges you normally get. its just targeted for a specific group of students to catch more attention.
sorry to disappoint you with what i said...</p>
<p>hahha, that's what I thought Tongchen. I wasn't really expecting anything special, so thanks for the info.</p>
