Hey everyone, just wondering what the general information for admissions to the Silver School of Social Work as an undergrad is. I am highly interested in pursuing social work and was wondering if this school was known to be any harder/easier to get into than other NYU schools/colleges.

If anyone has any information or any other input at all about this school it would be much appreciated!! Thank you so much

Well, I know that the program has about 30 freshman in it so I feel like it would be hard to get into.

I don’t know if this will help you, but I got into CAS, and they said I could transfer into Silver with no problems. If you get too worried about the Silver-specific admissions you could always try that.

Hey verabradley!
I am actually a newly admitted student to the NYU Silver Class of 2014. =]
The school itself is very rigorous, and you do a lot of hands-on experience beginning from your sophomore year in the program. That being said, the school isnt all “academic-GPA-based”, so they are looking for candidates who show strong leadership and character. Thus, they would rather choose an applicant with a 3.7 and many ECs and leadership involvements than a student with a perfect 4.0 and no character whatsoever. Dont get me wrong, its still NYU and extremley competitive, but it isnt as difficult score-wise as, say, Stern or CAS. Its unique, i wouldnt really compare it to any other school in NYU.
Plus, there only 12 males that got in this year (one of them being me!), so if youre a male, you definitley have an advantage!
Good Luck!

Thank you so much for your responses!! I have been looking at the Silver website alot and my interest has only increased. Especially with what dmbfnc said, I am happy because I love volunteering so much that basically all of my extracurriculars apply to service/social work. Congrats on getting in!! I am a girl so I don’t know if that would lower my chances, but I am still going to try. Maybe (hopefully!) I’ll be there with you someday :)
