Simple grammar question?

Hello, fellow CC members? Can anyone please answer my question?
Sentence: I found out that he, in fact, attended Oxford University and also fought in World War 1.
In this sentence is the usage of ‘and also’ grammatically correct or redundant?
To me, ‘I found out that he, in fact, attended Oxford University and fought in World War 1’ sounds a little bit strange??

I don’t see a problem with either sentence?

bodangles is right. They are both OK. Which you choose would be a matter of style or emphasis, not a matter of correctness.

I think maybe the “and also” implies a time gap between the two events???

But, hey, I teach math, so I’m just guessing here
