Well, calculus isn't going quite as planned.

So, with TAP certification, a GPA of 3.6, and no leadership/internship experience in particular, should I just forget about Business Economics at UCLA?

The average GPA for 08 transfer students into the major was 3.82. I'm guessing most of them had leaderships or internships to their record. If I'm good at essays, do I have any chance? Or should I just move on to my third choice (I've already crossed Haas off the list) of Business Econ at UCSB? Or maybe I should just go to Cal State Fullerton? =/

well open up your choices. whats your alternative major, since you have TAP certification UCLA will actually consider your other proposed major if you have all its prereqs finished by spring as well

The thing is, I'm not really going to UCLA just for the sake of going to UCLA; I really intend to major in Business Economics, and none of my secondary choices for majors are available (such as Accounting, which is only offered as a minor). I wouldn't want to major in psychology or philosophy, even if it means I can get into UCLA.

Not only that, but I don't think I'd have enough pre-reqs anyways, save for some obscure major that doesn't require any substantial preparation. But I'm not really interested in those majors. ^_^

If only I had taken Algebra in 7th grade and not taken any breaks, instead of listening to my parents and taking in in 8th grade and letting senioritis cause me to skip calculus in high school. GAH stupid past me.

Prereqs for an alternative major? I don't really plan to have any alternative major at UCLA. If you're talking about prereqs for bizecon, I'll easily have them done by the end of spring. All I have after this semester is one more calculus course. I actually have a surplus of excess classes.

You mean following the fall semester? If I got all A's, I'd have a 3.74. But I'm definitely going to have to settle for a C in calculus, which drops my GPA to a 3.60. >_<

Finish your prereqs/tap and apply to UCLA. Explain why you haven't participated in ECs/Internships. Did you work? Do you provide for your own living costs? Etc.

I say you have a good shot of getting in if you complete prereqs/tap and have some solid essays.
