@collegeproneness
Sorry I can’t help you, I just rejected Stanford Shumway 2 days ago cuz I am going to a internship. Do you think you have a good chance of getting into SIMR ? What’s your stats ?
Do u have other backup plans in case u got rejected by SIMR and u rejecting SSSI ?
Tough decision. I made mine up 2 days ago…

I would call the shumway internship people and ask for 4 more days to make the decision.

SHUMWAY!!! I applied to it. cant wait to hear back! OMG…

Take what you have. You would regret not being able to go to either.

Also SIMR had a 4.8% acceptance rate last year so… This would be like turning down a good school to wait on a Harvard decision.

Hey:
I had experience at COSMOS in Biotech and I have a research idea already. They rejected my decision to extend.

I would just take the shumway internship…Does it cost money?

Tons of kids have research experience. I had an internship last summer and I’m certainly not counting on SIMR.

shumway cost 3k

Do you have to pay it all or just a deposit to hold your spot?

we have to pay for it, it’s not a deposit

ooohhh is it non-refundable? That’s painful. Yeah I would take shumway, it’s too bad they wouldn’t let you extend the decision time. It seems stupid, especially since both programs are run by stanford. Why the eff don’t they coordinate these things?

I would go against all logic and call SIMR asking about ur application procress before making any decision

@collegeproness. Just curious what you ended up doing? A day late to respond, but why not pay the 3k to shumway and see what happens with simr? Worse case you lose 3k if you make it to simr, but get your chances of getting into an ivy boosted.

Also, not suggesting anything, but does anyone believe that they intentionally kept the shumway acceptance date to be 4/9 so that simr could yank the shumway acceptees from the simr list which comes out 4/13, after all it’s the same univ.

Heyy so I’m a little curious, too. What ended up happening?

Can someone please tell me how hard it is to get into Stanford shumway internship? Thank you
