What do you guys think of Yulee?

And in terms of being “social”, how is Jennings (especially in comparison to Broward)?

Are you supposed to recieve an email after you deposit your 25 dollars for housing? Also, is this when you can choose your prefered rooms or is it when you recieve a hoursing contract?

After paying the $25 housing deposit, you should receive the following email…

Dear Zapad,

Thank you for applying to the Department of Housing at the University
of Florida. Your Residence Hall application was received on 10/07/2010
with an application fee payment of $25.00. This nonrefundable application
fee is valid for all semesters through Summer A 2012.

Review carefully the information shown below, including name and address,
for accuracy. Please report any discrepancies in writing to the Housing
Assignments Section at the address below.

Thats strange because I didn’t recieve an email, even after I paid.

Crap, I didn’t receive an email either…How can I check that my $25 is indeed paid?

EDIT: Nvm, I had to search my email with the term “housing” instead of “UF.”

We probably haven’t received emails yet because I don’t believe the housing office is open on weekends. I’d presume we’d get emails on Monday.

??? does Jennings have their own dining hall?

we just got back from Gainesville we paid the $200 in person on Friday. That evening we received an email confirming receipt of the $200.00.

Eagleskyline: I hope so, If not then I’m just going to call them Tuesday. But can it be that they don’t have my Email?

Gator4ever: Was that for your housing contract?

bee yes I filled it out last Wed and I happen to be in Gville on Frirday so I paid it in person.

I paid the $200 yesterday night
I got the email this morning

Gator4ever: well I’m definantly going to contact them just in case. But did you update your email on your UFL account?

no I didnt update my email address. they have been sending me all my emails on a timely basis.

Jennings does not have their own dining hall…however, Beaty Towers market is right next door with grocery items, medicine, etc. They are open until late at night. To get to Broward Dining Hall, you must cross Museum road and pass through the pool area(Broward Beach), by the skate park, and grassy area to get to the dining hall. Also, you can walk down Museum road a few blocks to the Reitz Union which has a whole bunch of eateries in the food court.

thanks jankrav the Union does have a decent selection.

Does anyone have an opinion on Buckman? I know they do not have AC, but I’m pretty sure sure that is a factor I can definitely get over. But overall, how are the rooms and how social is the dorm? Also, does anyone know if it is in closer proximity to the freshman classes?

Any opinions on Graham or East as well?

btw, does anyone know a good site where I can find other reviews on UF housing?

Definitely ask some of this stuff on the official UF Housing Facebook site. There are a bunch of RAs and current residents on there that can help provide some good insight. [UF Housing and Residence Education | Facebook](UF Housing)

chinadoll…Buckman is mostly upper classman. I do not think it is very social for that reason…upper classman have most likely made a circle of friends already. However, I have heard that the rooms in the un airconditioned dorms are Huge! Also, you can purchase a room air conditioner that sits on the floor at Home Depot or Lowe’s for a reasonable price. These dorms have a good central location.
Here is a link to an old CC dorm discussion with lot of good info:

I was reading about the Learning Living communities, and noticed one called International house where your paired with international students. The idea of this seems very interesting to me, but are these dorms (which are in Weaver hall) good, and social?

^^^it doesn’t matter, I have been trying to get in there for the past week, the international dorm is full. maybe one or two spots may open later in the summer.
