I am currently a sophomore student at a branch campus of PSU, who has been planning to transfer to Smeal for Finance after my sophomore year. When I was a senior in high school, I was told this was not only do-able, but quite common! Since I am paying for college mostly on my own, I figured this would be the best plan of action since I could live at home for the first two years and save money before going away for the last two. I had the grades to get into Smeal right out of highschool, but I chose the money saving route because I was told I could just transfer after two years and that it was no big deal! Now on their website it says that no student can transfer after 3 semesters! What the hell?!

Am I seriously stuck at the PSU branch campus now, when I was told by the ADVISORS that I could just attend this campus for two years then switch?? Is this a new thing? Or has it been this way for years and I was just terribly misinformed?

You should ask your advisor again I might do the same. Not being able to transfer to Upark is one of the reasons i decided to transfer to other universities.

If you are in a brach campus you should be taking the required courses for entry into the Finance major. Everyone has to apply for a major at the end of their sophomore year. I think the web site you are looking at is for external transfers from other universities. Internal transfers have to apply for Smeal as well I believe, but you have a better shot.

It's not for external transfers only, its in regards to all of the branch campuses. I can't find the link right now, but at the branch campus I'm at, the website says "No transfers to Smeal after 2 semesters." This is ridiculous...I'm going to try and speak with my advisors to see if anything can be done. I have worked hard so far to get a GPA over 3.8 so that I would be almost guaranteed acceptance, and if I can't transfer into Smeal, then I don't know what to do...
