Anyway fiona_, so where are you heading this fall? :)

well fiona, PRELIMS and predicted grades!
the thing is that well... i came back to india for the holidays and SIA happily lost my bag which had ALL my notes, tutorials, books and everything! so... i am literally DOOMED for CTs...
lisieux: school's don't open until two weeks and am very very very scared; can't contact my counselor before that. :(
where all did you apply and not need your CT report?

For my school, our uni counsellor only got us to hand in O Level results, promos, prelims. Predicted grades and school profile he did those himself.

If they'd asked for my CTs I think I would've been automatically rejected everywhere :D But it's not like my promos and prelims were much better hahaha. (I didn't even know we had to submit prelims as well; I only found out at the last minute. I almost cried, lol) Predicted grades must've saved my behind.

Not all Rafflesians are muggers. That's just a common stereotype from outsiders. I think most of them work hard and play hard. (I'd like to think all students of top JCs are like that )

Meh, I thought the mugger stereotype was for SOME other school? coughcoughgagdie

SIA lost your bag??? SIA?? Whoa.. As in did they compensate you in any way?

And don't you know your CT's phone number???

Hmm applied to Cornell, Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, UVA, UMich, UIUC, U of Wisconsin-Madison. Only Berkeley needed it... But I still got in there anyway! Miracle. Hahaha. :P

You mean... Yours?? xP

yeah... surprising (in a totally unpleasant way!) they're offering money for the "value" of the goods; (like they do for laptops, electronics etc.) but the bag had none of that stuff... ONLY MY OH-SO-IMPORTANT NOTES! :(
yeah... emailed my CT; he says all he can do is suggest that i come back earlier and i should have taken better care of my notes; like how? sit in the bag with them!?!!
ermm... any idea about the others... like... well... haha... the ones in my chances thread...?
and lisieux... a BIG BIG BIG thanks! i see hope... hehe!

lisieux: what do you think? hahaha!

tuna, huh. i wouldn't expect that to happen with SIA. (actually i don't see why anyone would bring along ALL their notes, tutorials, books and everything back home. i should think it's a bit the heavy ya. and can you really do decent studying at home anyway :P but i feel for you. don't panic, CTs aren't THAT big a deal, you still have time to get mostly everything in order before prelims. prelims = scary)

Hmmm I don't really know about the others for sure, but like limited_vocab AND my guidance counselor (who was from Harvard) also say, you DO NOT need your full transcripts. Only you can find out for sure in the case of your colleges of your choice, try contacting them, or ask your seniors who applied there previously whether they submitted their full transcripts. Or if you REALLY don't want to submit them, then don't, and wait for them to contact you due to "missing information". Yup.

^HAHA yeah I NEVER manage to finish even 1% of what I planned to study during the holidays back home! Needs like HUGE willpower for that.

I'm quite sure most people DON'T send in their CT grades. We were advised not to unless for some reason we screwed up prelims, etc. RJC profile also explicitly states that the O-level cert or equivalent, prelim grades, predicted grades and final A-level grades (in March) are to be submitted, it doesn't mention CT grades. And if you're applying to universities that receive applications from Singapore JC students every year, that is probably what they'll expect from you.

Don't worry too much about the mid-year CT. Do what you can, let your teachers know about the situation. Prelims are what really count for US applications, and if you've been performing well enough in previous CTs and in class, you shouldn't have a problem securing a good set of predicted grades.

ermm... yeah.. it's juz me... had 40kgs of baggage and literally begged and pleaded the guy to allow me to take it... just feel it's better to take the pain and bring everything i might just need (or at least used to feel that way till the great SIA incident!)... yeah... it sucks to be studying now... (especially if you're on a comp. trying to get stuff off powerpoints)... i juz land up on fb or smth... haha... and with all my friends back home done with exams and stuff... and having a hardcore full-on party like 24/7... SUCKS TO BE ME!
thanks for the info, guys! :) :) :)

I haven't even bothered sending in my final A Level results yet.. and I'd really rather not :D Anyway no one's chased after me for it, so it should be okay.

But I think eventually you have to send them in, haha you get credits and for it anyway..

I didn't even send in my prelim grades to the schools I applied for (too ugly). They didn't seem to care for the most part.

Yeah I might do that, to get credits, although I'm also thinking that it would do me good to sort of re-learn all those Math/Science/Econs stuff which I've conveniently forgotten after A Levels..

My prelim grades were quite ugly too. That's why I almost panicked when I found out that we had to send in those as well.

My prelims were much worse than my CTs. Given that the US liked to see a trend of improvement, I didn't send both...thank god for NS. (gets struck by lightening)

nadash: then how did you apply for the unis

I sent A-Levels. NS remember? I only applied as a J3.

yeah me too. relax lah predicted grades won't kill you. i didn't send CT or prelim grades.

Hmm, 100%Tuna, I finally realised the prestige of SIA scholarship over say, AStar YRAP. You get to fly on SIA vs Vietnam Air or Air India. Hahaha *amused

Lisieux - I'm J2. Lol. I wanna go MIT tho xd

^^ no joke. SIA really rocks.

oh fiona i'm looking forward to the day you finally post a chance thread :) you're NUSHS i believe?

^Wait, but I saw you post a chance thread!!

Eh my friend who's on SIA scholarship didn't get to fly SIA leh.. How come??
