Single room for Freshman

How likely are freshmen at USC at getting a single? I applied for single at Webb, IRC, Birnkrant, and Fluor. I did not put double room as neither of my preferences. What would happen if I do not get a single? Will I just get an absolutely random room in a building I did not ask for?

Anyone in my situation?

You really should put something realistic in there as well as your last choice at least-- unless you want something completely random. It is unlikely to get a single (there just are not that many), unless you were very early registering (admitted in January and applied for housing when it opened).

You could end up anywhere if you do this.

@camomof3 Oh, now I feel more nervous… I have already submitted my application. Do you know if I can change it after submission?

Yes!! You can change it as much as you want right now. I do think it needs to be finalized around the end of the first week of May. You can mix it up a bit-- have your first choices be singles and maybe a double or two at preferred places. If you are a T/P scholar, you can be pretty safe with Birnkrant double as your back up.

@camomof3 so the applications started the earliest are given the most priority? or does your ‘priority date’ change when you change the dorm preferences?

Your priority date was when you paid the deposit and will not change if you make dorm preference changes.
